Since 1971, Alcan has been committed to providing our customers the best workmanship, personnel, and equipment available. Our dedication is simple: unparalleled performance at the best value on every project we undertake.
Alcan Electrical & Engineering is one of Alaska’s largest electrical contractors, owned and operated by Alaskans. With more than 200 employees, our focus is on meeting our customers’ needs through the highest quality work. In an industry where the smallest shortcut can lead to the largest problems, Alcan’s commitment to quality shines bright.
Powering what matters most — across Alaska.
Our story
Alcan has grown from a traditional electrical contractor into a full-service electrical, communications, security, and audio-visual technology integrator — while staying rooted in the workmanship and Alaskan ownership that built the company. That combination of scale and local accountability is why owners across the state trust us with their most complex and critical projects.
Safety — the “Safety Zone”
Alcan recognizes the wide variety of hazards present in today’s electrical industry and workplace, and our singular goal is a safe work environment. Through our NECA and IBEW affiliations, our employees are trained in:
- First Aid / CPR
- Foreman responsibility
- Powder-actuated tool operation
- Trenching and excavation
- Confined space
- Forklift operation
- Scissor lift / boom lift operation
Beyond compliance with all federal and state safety requirements, Alcan developed and maintains a formal safety program — “Safety Zone.” It’s comprehensive in scope, covering both safety and health, and flexible enough to meet the requirements of each project and customer. Project-specific safety meetings are held weekly at construction sites, and management and supervisory safety meetings review operations and project safety requirements.
