Healthcare · Anchorage, Alaska
Providence Alaska Medical Center, in Anchorage, is one of Alaska’s largest hospitals — and for more than 15 years it has relied on Alcan for the electrical systems behind its care. Across that time Alcan has delivered dozens of projects on the Providence campus, making it one of our largest and longest-running client relationships.
The work
Our collaboration began with the development of Towers S, T, and U, followed by the campus cottages. Alcan also designed and built the data center for the remodeled APU building. The most significant achievement to date is the expansion of the hospital itself: the 82,000-square-foot Tower M, which included remodeling 25,000 square feet within the existing hospital — space Alcan originally worked on during the “Project 80’s.”
Powering critical care
In a hospital, reliable power is inseparable from patient safety. Alcan has remained an essential part of the Providence team, supporting new initiatives across some of the most demanding environments in healthcare:
- Intensive care units (ICUs)
- Operating rooms
- Labor and delivery rooms
- MRI facilities
- Specialized decontamination care
The outcome
Alcan’s work has helped ensure Providence Alaska Medical Center can keep delivering state-of-the-art healthcare — a multi-decade, multimillion-dollar partnership built on the reliability the facility’s patients depend on every day.
