Industrial / Oil & Gas · Prudhoe Bay, Alaska
Alcan’s presence in Alaska has been statewide since our inception — and that includes the North Slope. Completed in 2019, this waste disposal facility at Prudhoe Bay is a recent chapter in a long history of industrial electrical work in one of the most demanding operating environments on earth.
Modular delivery, North Slope assembly
The facility was built as thirteen modules. Alcan served as design-assist and electrical installer, performing the work during fabrication in Anchorage and again during final assembly at Prudhoe Bay. That two-stage, modular approach is well suited to North Slope construction, where weather and logistics reward work that can be completed and tested before it ships north.
Coordination and process control
Close coordination was essential throughout — both with Schlumberger and British Petroleum — particularly to meet the facility’s electrical process-control requirements. The project drew on Alcan’s deep experience delivering electrical installations with industrial controls across the Slope, including earlier work on the Oooguruk onshore and offshore processing facilities and Spy Island.
